AOBA Welcomes New Communications Manager

AOBA is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Cynthia Alfaro to the position of Communications Manager. Cynthia came to AOBA after working the past four years as a communications and project manager for a local government and public affairs firm. In her new position, Cynthia will manage AOBA’s internal and external communications activities. 

She brings an extensive knowledge of communication strategies and campaigns, social media, graphic design, website development and video production. Her strong communications skills plus her familiarity with government affairs will allow us to strengthen the voice of the association.

Peggy Jeffers, EVP, said that "we are very excited to have Cynthia join our team. While working with her on several projects in 2019, we were impressed with her excellent and wide-ranging communication skills as well as her high level of productivity, creativity and self-management. Cynthia always demonstrated a willingness to grab whatever task was required of her and run with it; a core value engrained in the AOBA culture.”

Cynthia has also worked with nonprofit organizations in the region including Latino Student Fund, Capital Concerts, Inc. and CentroNía. She is bilingual in both Spanish and English.

Cynthia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a focus in Public Relations from the University of Maryland, College Park.
