The Maryland Government Affairs Committee (GAC) provides input, direction, guidance and assistance to AOBA’s Government Affairs staff in the development and implementation of a comprehensive legislative and regulatory agenda advocating for the interests of commercial and multifamily rental property owners and managers in Maryland.  The Committee meets weekly during the Maryland General Assembly session and at the call of the Chairman the remainder of the year.  Participation is open to all interested members. 

This GAC meeting will provide an update on Montgomery County's rent regulations and an upcoming work session on June 27 addressing the recently released regulations. The Council is expected to act this summer on the rent regulations, and staff will work through the process and next steps. AOBA staff will also provide a brief update on the Prince George's County Rent Stabilization Bill that was approved and passed out of the Committee of the Whole with amendments on June 18. The GAC meeting will give a high-level overview of the amendments and answer questions regarding both jurisdictions.
