DC Council Postpones Vote on Proposed 2008 Building Codes

Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) recently removed from Council consideration, a resolution proposing to adopt the Executive’s recommended changes to the 2008 building codes after requests from stakeholders for sufficient time for public comment.  Councilmember Cheh also promised that the Committee on Public Services and Consumer Affairs, of which she is the Chairperson, will hold a public hearing in the fall before the proposed codes are submitted to the full Council for a vote.  As a result of Cheh’s actions, stakeholders will have sufficient time to discuss the code changes which have implications for the District’s economic development, affordable housing and other critical concerns.
