Outlook Uncertain for Transportation Session
With only a short time before the June 23 special session, consensus has yet to emerge on a solution to transportation infrastructure financing. Governor Tim Kaine has unveiled a proposed revenue package to restore funding for the construction of critical transportation infrastructure and to close the funding gap for the maintenance of road and transit systems statewide. But his plan has met with immediate criticism from both sides of the aisle, and the public discord between all camps illuminates once again how the transportation issue continues to divide legislators.
