Democrat Eileen Filler-Corn was seated by the House of Delegates on March 3, after narrowly winning victory over Republican opponent Kerry Bolognese in a special election in the 41st House of Delegates district in Burke.  After the final count, only 37 votes separated the two candidates in the race to succeed Senator Dave Marsden who won a special election in January to fill the unexpired term of Ken Cuccinelli, who was elected Attorney General.
