Dominion Virginia Power Files for Base Rate Increase
Dominion Virginia Power filed this week for a base rate increase at the April 1 deadline. The State Corporation Commission will review the utility’s request to recover additional funds from consumers for new plant construction, conservation projects, administrative costs and even a little bit of added profit. According to the company, the average residential energy bill would increase by about 7 percent, while businesses and apartments can expect a 3-5 percent increase. The increase is less than anticipated because it has been combined with a reduction in fuel costs and charges.
